Air Filters

The problem: Your air filter needs to be changed. This is the most important filter in your car.
Consequences: A clogged or restricted air filter may hinder airflow and draw contaminants into the engine. With today's finely tuned fuel injected systems, this not only leads to poor fuel economy but causes premature wear to the fuel injectors and moving components in the engine.
Solution: Most air filters can be easily replaced, so we encourage customers not to risk it.

Fuel Filters

The problem: Your fuel filter needs to be changed.
Consequences: Fuel filters become clogged with dirt and debris during normal operation and should be replaced to: increase performance, extend fuel pump life and aid in fuel economy.
Solution: Unlike air filters, fuel filters are unable to be visually examined to determine if they require replacement, that's why it's important to replace a fuel filter on a regular basis, to ensure it's operating correctly and doesn't become blocked. Fuel filters are often mounted in hard to reach locations, including inside the fuel tank. This is a sample of fuel drained on to white paper from the inlet side of old fuel filter, just look at the mess. Has your fuel filter been changed recently?

Spark Plugs

The problem: Your spark plugs need to be changed.
Consequences: A spark plug ignites the air / fuel mixture in the combustion chamber by creating an electrical spark. The spark plug has positive and negative electrodes. The positive electrode receives an electrical charge generated at the ignition coil, which jumps across an air gap to the negative electrode. The spark plug ignites the air fuel mixture to create an explosion that will push down on the piston, which turns a crank. If the air gap on the spark plug becomes too wide (usually caused by wear of the positive electrode) the electrical charge may not be able to jump the gap. When this happens there is no spark. When there is no spark, there is no explosion, and no downward pressure on the piston. This is called a misfire. A misfire will decrease performance and fuel economy, and if left unaddressed, may cause damage to the converter.
Solution: To replace it, it is unscrewed from the head. On some cars this is very easy, on others, access to the plug is obstructed.

The Problem:

Automatic transmission fluid contamination.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS. Your automatic transmission may overheat or suffer a complete (and costly) breakdown.

Solution:

We perform a Mansfield Motors Automatic Transmission Power Flush Service, which safely removes sludge and varnish deposits, and replaces virtually 100% of contaminated fluid, with new fresh fluid. It's a simple, economical and proactive solution.

The Problem:

Your battery has limited life, which means that one day your car won't start

Safety Consequences:

Cars that require a new battery rarely exhibit signs of impending battery failure, which means that you may be unexpectedly stranded when your car doesn't start. Often the first sign of a problem is that your car won't start at all!

The Problem:

Your brake fluid has degraded over time.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS & LIFE THREATENING. Many brake problems can be traced to air or contamination of the hydraulic fluid. Left unchecked, you can experience a reduction in braking performance.

Solution:

Brake fluid retains moisture so it will be flushed and re-bled (remove the air from the system) to keep the brakes working effectively; it also restores soft pedal pressure and avoids internal corrosion of brake components. At Mansfield Motors we follow manufacturers recommendations every 2 Years or 40 000 km's, or by testing and inspecting the brake fluids condition and advising you if it requires replacement.

The Problem:

Dirt, varnish and carbon deposits have formed in your vehicle's fuel system.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS. Left untreated, this can lead to costly, reactive engine repairs

Solution:

Mansfield Motor's On Car Fuel System Flush & Carbon Clean Service is a professional process that will clean your complete fuel system, including the fuel injectors. It will safely remove harmful carbon deposits from throttle bodies and intake valves, which means that fuel economy will improve, horsepower will increase, and exhaust emissions will reduce.

The Problem:

Your CV Boot is worn &/or torn

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS. Torn CV boots allow grease meant to lubricate the joint to escape, this allows dirt and debris to enter inside the joint which causes premature Cv joint failure. A Worn CV joint usually produces a loud abnormal clacking noise from the wheel area when it's being turned, but by this time it's too late to replace the boot. If left in this condition the joint will catastrophically fail, which will cause complete loss of drive to the wheels.

Solution:

We will replace your CV boots or drive shafts as required.

The Problem:

Wear and corrosion inside the wheel cylinders may be reaching a critical point.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS & LIFE THREATENING. Excessive wear or leakage must be dealt with immediately! If any of these components fail or wears sufficiently, the brakes may fail suddenly and without warning. These components are so important to vehicle safety that any fluid leakage from wheel cylinders or excessive wear renders the vehicle in an un-roadworthy condition.

Solution:

At Mansfield Motors, during every service we remove the brake drums, to fully inspect the rear brakes. If they require work we will advise you. If required, we will replace the wheel cylinders to restore the brakes to like-new condition.

The Problem:

Your engine bay (the area that houses your engine and all its components) is unclean.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS. Leaks and wearing components are not visible and therefore not fixed. Left unchecked, leaks and wearing components can lead to thousands of dollars damage to your engine.

Solution:

Mansfield Motors will soak your engine bay with environmentally friendly biodegradable degreaser, and use high pressure to wash down the entire engine bay. We will then blow dry all electrical connectors and spark plug leads as required.

The Problem:

Conventional head light globes don't offer enhanced vision.

Safety Consequences:

Reduced night vision.

Solution:

The Problem:

The fluid in the power steering reservoir has changed to a dark colour, which is an important indication that the power steering fluid needs to be flushed.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS. The change in colouring is caused by fine metal particles suspended in the oil. These particles have already been pumped throughout the system, effectively becoming a grinding paste on any of the moving parts within the system. The abrasive action of these contaminants will damage seals, score shafts and bores, and foul the valve assemblies. Without attention, this can lead to a break down in the entire power steering, requiring expensive repairs to the power steering rack, box or pump.

Solution:

Mansfield Motors can flush your power steering system and remove contaminated oil with a powerful cleaner, which suspends and dissolves varnish and gum residue in the power steering system. Then we will replenish it with new high-tech power steering fluid.

The Problem:

You have worn shock absorbers.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS. When shock absorbers begin to show excessive wear, they lose their ability to effectively stop the tyre from bouncing during different road conditions. If your tyre is bouncing it won't offer the same level of braking grip and handling capability as one that is maintaining constant contact with the road.

Solution:

We will fit your car with quality shock absorbers.

The Problem:

Suspension bushes are wearing out.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS. Worn bushes cause rapid tyre wear and steering that is loose or pulling. Worn bushes also negatively impact braking and overall safe handling of your vehicle.

Solution:

We will install replacement bushes that are stronger than the original rubber design.

The Problem:

Your tyres are wearing out unevenly.

Safety Consequences:

By uneven decreased wear you will need to replace particular tyres sooner. Also, unbalanced wheels will increase wear of your shock absorbers, struts, and other expensive steering and suspension components.

Solution:

We will examine your tyres and will rotate and balance them so that they maximise tread and suspension life.

The Problem:

One or more of your tyres need to be changed due to being worn or damaged.

Safety Consequences:

SERIOUS and LIFE THREATENING. Tyres represent the only contact between your car and the road. Your safety in regards to acceleration, braking, steering and cornering are currently compromised because the small area of road contact (your tyres) are not in good condition.

Solution:
